Band Of Heroes for Wei Chou

Family, friends & Make-A-Wish all joined forces to help Wei Zhou’s dream of owning Guitar Hero become a reality. In an action packed, high-energy wish event, Wei Zhou was able to live out a rock star life. Amongst much laughter & NOISE, NOISE, NOISE, everyone had the chance to have their turn at either playing the drums or guitar or accompanying the musicians by singing. The whole party atmosphere was enhanced by scrumptious food, balloons and a couple of extra gifts – a school bag & a Stephanie Sun CD, who just happens to be his favourite singer.  Wei Zhou’s mum said, “Thank you for making the party such a wonderful experience for Wei Zhou.”

Shyam’s Sentosa Magix

Sentosa was the venue for 5 year old Shyam’s wish day. Accompanied by his family and wish granters dressed as pirates, he spent a “watery” morning playing with the dolphins at Dolphin Lagoon and marvelling at Underwater World’s beautiful marine creatures. The afternoon was another first for Shyam when he experienced 3D cinema at 4D Magix & Cineblast. A ride on the Tiger Sky Tower completed the time on Sentosa and, after a rest at the Siloso Hotel, Swenson’s in Vivocity was the venue for dinner, games and Shyam receiving his last surprise: a longed for X-Box! It was the perfect ending to a wonderful day for this happy little boy and his close-knit family.

Albert’s Mount Everest Wish Climb

Inspired to help raise funds and create awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, Albert King, a volunteer Wish Granter, will be climbing to Everest Base Camp in March 2009. He has dedicated his climb to his three children, Nicholas, Mitchell and Rachel, Wish Child Miki Soh and all the other Wish Children of Make-A-Wish Foundation®, Singapore.

100% of all proceeds raised from this event will be donated to Make-A-Wish Foundation®, Singapore.
For his valiant efforts, Albert has set an initial fundraising target of $8,848
(which equates to the height of Mount Everest in metres) and a “Reach for the Stars” target of $29,029 (which equates to the height of Mount Everest in feet).

Monopoly National Championship 2009 Singapore

NATAS Fair, Feb 09

In last month’s Wishing Wire, we had called for volunteers who were not afraid to approach strangers to ask for donations, not afraid of rejections, can remain cheerful despite all odds.  We would like to thank the following brave volunteers who answered our call for help and became such fabulous ambassadors for Make-A-Wish at this NATAS Fair, raising a huge $8,008! 

Being on your feet so long and approaching so many people was certainly not an easy task.  But not only did you persevere at asking for donations to bring cheer to our wish kids, we noticed that you did it with a smile on your face -  The teams on each day were dynamic and the enthusiasm from everyone was so encouraging.  

Make-A-Wish is truly blessed to have such wonderful volunteers to champion our cause.  Big THANKS to each one of you!
